VIRAL WARTS
Viral warts are benign growths on the skin or mucous membranes caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV). They most commonly appear on the hands, feet, face, or genital area and can vary in shape and size (flat, common, plantar, genital warts).
- Cause:
HPV virus, transmitted through direct contact (touch, shared objects) or sexually (genital warts).
- Appearance:
Male, hrapave izrasline, često sive ili boje kože, ponekad sa crnim tačkicama (zgrušana krv).
- Symptoms:
Usually painless, but plantar warts (on feet) can cause pain while walking.

Wart Treatment and Prevention
- Cryotherapy:
Freezing the wart with liquid nitrogen.
- Salicylic acid:
Topical treatments for gradual wart removal.
- Laser therapy:
Laser removal, especially for persistent warts.
- Electrocauterization:
Burning the wart with electric current.
- Immunotherapy::
Products that stimulate the immune system (e.g. imiquimod for genital warts).
- Surgical removal:
Rarely, for large or resistant warts.

Prevention:
- Avoid direct contact with warts.
- Do not share towels, shoes, or other personal items.
- Wear flip-flops in public showers or pools.
- For genital warts: use protection during sexual intercourse and consider HPV vaccination.
Warts often go away on their own (especially in children), but treatment is recommended if they are painful, spreading, or aesthetically concerning. If you have warts, especially genital ones, consult a dermatologist for an accurate diagnosis and therapy, since certain HPV types (high-risk) may be linked to cancer.
