What is laser hair removal and how does it work?

Laser hair removal is a medically recognized method for the permanent removal of unwanted hair. At Cosmo Derm Novi Sad, we use a modern diode laser with 4 wavelengths (755, 808, 940, and 1064 nm), which allows for the effective removal of both lighter and darker, deeply rooted hairs.

The 940 nm wavelength additionally acts on hemoglobin, enabling deep thermal treatment of the follicle – making the procedure particularly effective for hormonal and male hair (back, shoulders, chest). Statistics show a high satisfaction rate after just 4 treatments.

Where can laser hair removal be applied?

Laser hair removal can be performed on almost all body areas: face (upper lip, chin, cheekbones), armpits, bikini area, arms, legs, back, abdomen, shoulders, intimate region. Among women, armpits and bikini area are most commonly treated, while for men, it's usually the back and shoulders.

During the procedure, the client may feel a slight tingling sensation, along with temporary redness. Thanks to the cooling system, the treatment is minimally uncomfortable and performed quickly. Since the laser only acts on hairs in the active growth phase, 2–6 treatments are required at intervals of 4–6 weeks for optimal results.

Preparation for laser hair removal

To ensure the treatment is safe and effective, it is important to:

• Shave the area 12–24 hours before the treatment (do not use wax or tweezers)
• Avoid sun exposure and tanning beds for a week before the treatment
• Do not apply creams, perfumes, or self-tanners to the treated area on the day of treatment
• Arrive with clean, dry, and undamaged skin

Before each treatment, a mandatory dermatological consultation is conducted, during which we assess the condition of the skin, indications, and any contraindications.

Before the treatment, avoiding sun exposure, certain medications, or procedures that may irritate the skin may be recommended.
